[ Senior E-Discovery Attorney ]

The Senior E-Discovery Attorney will spearhead firmwide procedures, training, and case team support relating to e-discovery matters. This role will serve as (1) a centralized function area ensuring that the firm is staying abreast of the quickly evolving e-discovery and artificial intelligence landscape and effectively utilizing e-discovery and artificial intelligence technology and best practices in a standardized fashion across the firm to consistently deliver the highest performance for clients, and (2) a bridge between the firm’s client facing case teams and the litigation support team to ensure litigation priorities and technical opportunities and constraints are effectively communicated and optimally managed. 

 Responsibilities:   

  • Keep up to date on the fast-moving area of e-discovery practice and new technologies—in particular, artificial intelligence—and how e-discovery and artificial intelligence technologies are being leveraged in the legal field. 
  • Assess and recommend e-discovery and artificial intelligence software and technology that is suitable for the firm.
  • Train attorneys to use the firm’s e-discovery and artificial intelligence technology and administer focused training sessions targeted to case teams as needed.  
  • Drive attorney engagement in Litigation Support training by developing practical day-to-day use cases from an attorney perspective.
  • Develop and maintain database of benchmarking data on cost of e-discovery software and technology offerings, and train senior attorneys to understand and advocate to clients about the practical implications and cost-saving benefits of utilizing such technologies and tailor legal services to client-specific needs.
  • Develop and maintain database of market information on performance, offerings, and cost of third-party e-discovery and project management vendors for future partnership opportunities.
  • Analyze developments in discovery law and relevant regulations and keep the firm up to date with email alerts or regular newsletters about discovery issues relevant to our practice. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a uniform set of procedures and best practices for document collection, review, production, and management across all stages of litigation.
  • Assist case teams with developing strategies to effectively utilize e-discovery tools by (1) meeting with case managers as early in the discovery process as possible to develop an understanding of the discovery needs for the case, to identify aspects of the case that may prove particularly complex, and to advise on the implementation of our firmwide discovery protocols; and (2) maintaining a consulting role on each case with discovery obligations to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented and maintained. 
  • Act as a resource for attorneys by answering questions about discovery practices. 
  • Manage the function area as it is augmented by other resources including oversight of staff attorneys and litigation support team members staffed on e-discovery projects to operationalize best practices and e-discovery protocols.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree, JD.
  • At least five years of litigation discovery experience.
  • Strong proficiency in e-discovery software platforms such as Relativity or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence technologies for litigation and the ability to utilize those technologies in practice.
  • Familiarity and experience with data preservation, collection, processing, review, and production processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • The ability to train attorneys of all levels of experience on e-discovery and artificial intelligence technologies and the benefits of implementing such technologies in litigation to optimize client experience. 
  • The ability to manage e-discovery projects effectively, including coordinating with internal teams, external vendors, and legal professionals.
  • The ability to collaborate closely with legal case teams, litigation support professionals, and other stakeholders to develop and implement e-discovery strategies that align with case requirements and legal objectives.
  • The ability to adapt to evolving technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in the e-discovery and artificial intelligence landscape.
  • The ability to oversee and supervise function-area processes and staffing to ensure adherence to best practices and operational standards.

This is an exempt position and the annual salary range for this role is $200,000 to $275,000, commensurate with experience. This salary range reflects estimated base salary.  Total cash compensation will be higher when factoring in year-end bonus and benefits.
