The Financial Times has shortlisted Selendy Gay for a 2024 “Innovative Lawyers" award in the pro bono category. This prestigious honor is in recognition of the First Amendment case the firm is litigating on behalf of the authors of And Tango Makes Three, a children’s book that conveys important themes about LGBTQIA+ families, that has been removed and restricted in Florida school districts.
Selendy Gay recently secured a significant settlement in Nassau County, Florida, which required the restoration of the students’ public school library access to Tango and 35 other books, including works by Toni Morrison, that address underrepresented communities and individuals.
The "Innovative Lawyers" Awards program celebrates the innovative ways lawyers are delivering value for clients and driving positive change in the profession. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on December 9.
