Rajat Rana Joins Selendy Gay as Partner

Rajat Rana has joined Selendy Gay as a partner, bringing extensive experience in international commercial disputes and investment treaty arbitrations. Rajat advises companies and individuals in regions across the globe, including Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America. They come from a variety of industries, such as energy, financial services, transportation, infrastructure, and real estate.

As a first-generation Indian American, Rajat has earned a strong reputation as trusted counsel for Indian multinational companies and ultra-high net worth individuals.

Representative matters include:

• Represented a Brazilian company in a highway construction dispute against a state-owned company in Trinidad & Tobago
• Representing foreign investors in an ICSID arbitration against the Republic of Azerbaijan pertaining to a joint venture with SOCAR, the state-owned oil company
• Representing the Republic of Malta in its first ever ICSID arbitration commenced by a Chinese investor
• Representing Middle Eastern investors in parallel investment and commercial claims challenging a wrongful termination of a railway concession
• Representing a foreign investor in a treaty dispute against the Republic of Algeria
• Represented a large Indian textile company in an investor state arbitration dispute

Prior to joining Selendy Gay, Rajat was a partner in the International Arbitration and Litigation practice at Alston & Bird LLP.  Previously, Rajat clerked for a Supreme Court Justice in India and then clerked for Judge Seon Ki Park at the U.N. International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
